🇺🇦 Pictured: Zelensky went right into the Severodonetsk salient on a surprise visit to soldiers on the frontlines. He visited two towns Lysychansk and Soledar.
🇺🇦 Severodonetsk is Russia’s last hurrah. They put all of their remaining combat-ready troops and weapons there. Elsewhere the remaining Russian soldiers are digging in to existing occupied areas in hopes of keeping those areas
🇺🇦 Severodonetsk is a very fluid situation, and over the past 48 hours, there have been hour-by-hour front line movements…
🇺🇦 One June 5, the Russian advance of Severodonetsk had collapsed. Today, June 6, Kyiv is reporting that there is heavy fighting in Severodonetsk. There is so much news coming out of this area that it is very difficult to get accurate news that is timestamped appropriately. One reliable source may say the city is under UA control and another reliable source says the UA position is worsening, and they may both be right but the time stamps are not known. I do not know the current state
🇺🇦 50% of Severodonetsk is apparently in Russian hands as of this morning (EST), June 6.
🇺🇦 Russia’s situation seems to be precarious, but fighting has intensified
🇺🇦 Russia has a numerical advantage, but UA has been equipment and tactics.
🇺🇦 1,500 Belarusians are fighting for Ukraine.
🇺🇦 There are more Belarusians fighting Russians than Belarusians fighting Ukrainians
🇺🇦 Russian forces conducted their first missile strike against Kyiv in over a month on June 5. They hit a civilian target.
🇺🇦 As a result of the above, UK will provide UA with long range missiles.
🇺🇦 Russian military bloggers continued to reckon with overarching struggles in Russian force generation on June 5. Oh man, Russian milbloggers are in for a rough ride
🇺🇦 Re: Macron saying we shouldn’t humiliate Russia. The likely reasoning for this is for post-war planning. Russia wants to avoid a post-Germany WW1 mistake, where they were humiliated so much that radical figureheads rose to power. (Thanks Christopher D). This take seems to follow closer what Macron was trying to convey
🇺🇦 The Security Service of Ukraine said it’s members discovered a Russian funneling system using foreign currency (U.S. dollars and EU Euros) in Kyiv June 4th. It was designed to pay for a Russian agent/spy network inside Ukraine.
🇺🇸Hey it’s the Anniversary of D Day
🇺🇦 It appears that a 13th Russian general has died. Lt Gen Roman Berdnikov, commander of the 29th army. However, this has not been verified by reputable news.
🇺🇦 If the above turns out to be true, that means that 14 generals have been killed….13 Russian + 1 Chechen.
🇺🇦 As a note, there were 3 generals that UA reported KIA which later turned out to be alive. This means there were only 14.
🇺🇦 Sorry, it’s difficult to keep track of all of these KIA generals because the number seems to change more than the Severodonetsk front line. Come on you guys, stop humiliating Russia!
📢 Countries apply to be in NATO. NATO doesn’t seek to expand. Saying NATO is encroaching on Russia is Kremlin messaging. Russia has three primary propaganda efforts directed at the West, and that’s the first.
📢 Yes, Ukraine has a nazi problem, but it’s a very small percentage of the country, and not representative of the whole. Using a small group to smear the entire group is called “guilt by association.” Russia has three primary propaganda efforts directed at the West, and that’s the second.
📢 If you ever hear anyone say “What about America…” in an effort to redirect attention away from Ukraine and onto the west, that is called “Competitive victimhood” and the associated meme is *always* created by Russian-backed media. Russia has three primary propaganda efforts directed at the West, and that’s the third.
⚠️ Note: I got lazy with my citations and I apologize. My top sources are: Current and former military planners, singularly-focused pundits, and all manner of vetted open-source intelligence. Top cited open source pundits and sources include: CP Scott, Institute for the Study of War, Kyiv Independent, Aaron Parnas, John Aravosis, Malcontent News, and mainstream news with high levels of journalistic integrity and track records. Sadly I can’t source private individuals, of course.
⚠️ Speaking of sources, thanks to all of you who have forwarded me tips. You’re the private individuals I wish I could source publicly
