🇺🇦 Russian forces did not conduct any confirmed ground attacks in Ukraine on May 2. This is making for a light news day.
🇺🇦 (pictured) 2/3 of Russian ground combat units were deployed to Ukraine. The Ukrainian defence has rendered a quarter of deployed units ineffective. In any army, in any age, this is a massive loss of units and combat power.
🇺🇦 The April 30 Ukrainian strike on Russian command headquarters near Izyum was done by artillery (that’s for you, Jeff!). This attack will likely disrupt Russian operations on the Izyum axis for days.
🇺🇦 It seems that UA is getting long range counter-battery artillery. Right now, RU can just sit and shoot with their artillery because they have 20+ miles of range and no UA weapon can touch them. UA can’t do this so they have to fire, then move away and set up against. UA is rumored to be getting their own long range equipment that can achieve 35 miles of range. That means RU will no longer be able to sit comfortably and continue
🇺🇦 Nancy Pelosi led a congressional delegation to meet with Pres. Zelensky in Kyiv to show America’s commitment to Ukraine. Note: lawmakers from both parties have visited Ukraine. I haven’t seen Americans this united in something in decades. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) has introduced a resolution that would authorize US troops to enter Ukraine in the event that Russia used nuclear, biological, or chemical weapons
🇺🇦 Quick note: yesterday I said a number of US planeloads arrived in Ukraine. To clarify, the US landed planes in Poland to be delivered to Ukraine. US planes are not landing in Ukraine. (Thanks Robert)
🇺🇦 There’s an ongoing shadow campaign taking place in Russia, with 22 acts of fire or sabotage to strategic military or scientific facilities
🇺🇦 More civilians continue to be evacuated from Azovstal
🇺🇦 Russia is rumored to be preparing for total mobilization on May 9th. This will be a complete disaster. It’s hard enough keeping their current military motivated and fed, let alone throwing an additional million people at the problem.
🇺🇦 Ukraine’s military has pushed the Russian military about 40 km back from Kharkiv peak Russian invasion. This news comes as Ukrainian troops have retaken the strategic town of Staryi Saltiv, which is 40km away from Kharkiv
📢 Countries apply to be in NATO. NATO doesn’t seek to expand. Saying NATO is encroaching on Russia is Kremlin messaging. Russia has three primary propaganda efforts directed at the West, and that’s the first
📢 Yes, Ukraine has a nazi problem, but it’s a very small percentage of the country, and not representative of the whole. Using a small group to smear the entire group is called “guilt by association.” Russia has three primary propaganda efforts directed at the West, and that’s the second.
📢 If you ever hear anyone say “What about America…” in an effort to redirect attention away from Ukraine and onto the west, that is called “Competitive victimhood” and the associated meme is *always* created by Russian-backed media. Russia has three primary propaganda efforts directed at the West, and that’s the third.
