Russia is repositioning, April 24 may decide the war, and all eyes on Eastern Ukraine
Saturday, April 9
News is slow because Russia is still repositioning.
🇺🇦 Due to the failures in Ukraine, Putin has removed the general in charge of Ukraine, and put General Alexander Dvornikov in charge. General Dvornikov was the general responsible for Syria. This general will oversee all operations in Eastern Ukraine with a mandate for success by May 9th.
🇺🇦 Ukrain recently received Slovakia’s entire S-300 anti-missile air defense system. This system defends against cruise missiles and aircraft up to 80,000 feet up. And WOAH surprise, it appears that Slovakia has suddenly received an American Patriot anti-missile system. How did that happen?🤷
🇺🇦Russia kidnapped 170 Chernobyl employees and took them back to Russia. This happened during their evacuation a week or so ago
🇺🇦 Putin may soon notch a huge victory in Ukraine…by Marine LePen winning the French presidency on April 24th. Marine LePen is a long time Putin admirer. If she wins, France would almost certainly leave the NATO alliance, which would cause a cascading series of events that would end with Ukraine—and every eastern European country—standing alone. Her election would be a disaster for Europe and the trans-Atlantic effort to support Ukraine against Russia. (Wall Street Journal, Politico, Washington Post, The Guardian, Daily Beast, Daily Express, Bloomberg, Foreign Policy, New York Times)
🇺🇦 Yesterday I described Russia’s tactic as a fish eating a smaller fish, whereby it would chomp on Slovyanks and Mariupol at the same time, thereby causing a double envelopment. Lol this army guy was like “hey that’s called a pincer move.”
🇺🇦 Russia is also attempting a deep double envelopment from Kherson (southern area with water access) to Kharkiv (north east)
🇺🇦 Cayman Islands have frozen more than $7 billion in Russian assets. If you recall the Panama Papers in 2016, this is where huge amount of dark money goes to live.
🇺🇦 Unconfirmed: Intercepted calls from Russia say the mothers of Russian soldiers began to storm military enlistment offices in Russia
🇺🇦 Defending eastern Ukraine (let alone performing offensive operations) is difficult because Ukrainian logistical depots are mostly in the west.
🇺🇦 Country wide, Ukrainians are not looting. There’s just no meaningful evidence of Ukrainians looting
🇺🇦 The Kremlin said on Friday that Russia’s “special operation” in Ukraine could end in the “foreseeable future” since its aims were being achieved and work was being carried out by both the Russian military and Russian peace negotiators. Opinion: They really do seem to be aiming for a May 9 deadline
🇺🇦 Russian forces have abandoned vast numbers of tanks and artillery in a hasty withdrawal from northern Ukraine, a western official has said.
🇺🇦 In Kharkiv, Russia is firing missiles that deploy landmines.
🇺🇦 Russia initially took credit for the railway attack yesterday, then deleted the post when reports of heavy civilian casualties occurred. Russia is now claiming it was a Ukrainian false flag and it was a military transport that Ukrainians surrounded with civilians.
🇺🇦 Russia’s foreign minister accused Latvia of being neo-nazis after Latvia designated designated May 9th to commemorate the victims of Russian aggression. This is a pretty good indication that Latvia is next.
⚠️ Trigger warning, skip this if you don’t want your night ruined ⚠️ Someone asked me why I take the time to make these daily updates. Here’s the answer: A Russian soldier r@ped a toddler and posted it to Telegram. This is not an isolated incident. This is happening to boys as well. In some cases, parents, siblings, or children, are forced to watch. There are at least 5,000 war crime incidents being investigated. I will dedicate every spare moment I have to letting the world know what’s happening, and I will keep doing this until the first war criminal is sentenced. A well informed population is impossible to defeat.
⚠️ Correction: Yesterday, I attributed a quote to a Finnish general who said “You are most welcome here to join the 200,000 Russians that are already in Finland buried a few meters in the ground after your last attempt in 1939." This quote was widely shared, but I can’t find an original source, so this may be dubious
⚠️ If you ever hear anyone say “What about America…” in an effort to redirect attention away from Ukraine and onto America, that is called “Competitive victimhood” and the associated meme is *always* created by Russian-backed media. Russia has three primary propaganda efforts directed at the West, and that’s the third.
⚠️ Note: War happens fast and even high fidelity news needs a ton of corrections after the dust settles.
⚠️ Note: I’m getting lazy with my citations and I apologize. It’s all the same sources as it’s always been…NATO planners, official statements, major news, other open source researchers, people who send me leads, reputable pundits like Aaron Parnas, Kyiv Independent, etc. Thank you especially to CP Scott, former Army and former NATO planner.
⚠️ I started a substack newsletter to accommodate the individual emails requests. Feel free to subscribe!
